For the first year at Douglas Hall AFC we want to introduce an opportunity for soccer-loving children from both Ireland and Spain to experience soccer at a professional level while simultaneously gaining international experience.

Next july 2026, for 2 weeks, Douglas Hall will host Soccer Pro Barcelona, who will deliver a professional Soccer Programme for boys and girls aged 6-16.

The programme is delivered by former FC Barcelona players and coaches from the FC Barcelona Academy.

Soccer Pro Barcelona gives the opportunity to all families who meet the established criteria, to host a player coming from Spain during the 2-week programme and get the whole training camp for free (valued €790) for a player of their choice. But the benefits are not only economic, as it is also an opportunity for the kids to meet a new friend, with whom they can have a lifelong friendship.

How does it work?

We are looking for local host families who are willing to take in Spanish players for the duration of the programme (2 weeks).

This opportunity is exclusively for Douglas Hall AFC members and limited to 18-20 families.

What do host families get from it?

All host families hosting a Spanish player will receive the entire 2-week programme for free for one player of their choice. The programme is valued at €790

Who are the Spanish players?

Spanish players are boys and girls aged between 10-16, who will also be attending the soccer programme at the same time as the player of your choice.

What are Spanish players expecting from host families?

Children coming from Spain are expecting a warm welcome and to be treated as a member of the family for two weeks (including all meals, lifts to and from the camp, and to be included in all family activities). Children from Spain will be around the same age as the player from the local host family and this will give both players an international experience and an opportunity to make a lifelong friendship.

 

Do spanish players require an individual bedroom or can they share a bedroom with our kids?

Spanish players are more than happy to share a bedroom with your kids, in fact, this is part of the international experience

All type of houses, apartments, etc. are welcome to apply to become a host family, as long as you have the will to give a warm welcome to a kid from Spain. No special requirements are needed at all.

  

When is the program taking place?

Programme Dates when hosting: from Sunday 5th of july to Saturday 18th july 2026

Players will arrive with Soccer Pro Barcelona team to Douglas Hall’s facilities on Sunday 5th of july where they will be collected by the local host family, and have to be dropped off by the host family at the club again on Saturday 18th july 2026 in order to return to Barcelona.
